NERA is a river in Italy and one of the largest tributaries of the Tiber. It originates in the Apennine Mountains, on the slopes of Monte Catria. The river stretches for approximately 116 kilometers. The name “Nera” derives from the Latin Nahr, which likely has Semitic roots and translates as “river.” It flows through the picturesque regions of Umbria and Lazio, passing through towns such as Triponzo, Terni, and Narni.
Today, NERA is not only a significant hydrographic artery of central Italy but also a symbol of the deep connection between nature, history, and the architectural heritage of the region.
